Four out of five Americans still describe themselves as meat eaters, and 98% of US households still purchase meat, according to a new report by the Meat Institute and FMI—The Food Industry Association.
The Power of Meat report, released Monday, noted that Gen Xers were the biggest meat eaters, accounting for 32% of sales, while Baby Boomers were the most frequent meat purchasers at 53 times per year. Meanwhile, Millennials spent the most on average per purchase at just under $17 per purchase.

Unit pricing guidelines for grocery retailers have been released by the Commerce Commission. The guide has been designed to help retailers understand the unit pricing obligations for regulated grocery products under the Consumer Information Standards Regulations 2023.
In 2022, the Commerce Commission’s market study into the grocery sector found that more competition was needed for all New Zealanders to benefit from better prices, more choice, and more convenient shopping. The US online grocery market finished February with total monthly sales of $7.9 billion, down 10.5% compared to 2023, according to the most recent Brick Meets Click/Mercatus Grocery Shopper Survey fielded February 28-29.
