While shopping, keep in mind that Asia is the world’s largest and most populous continent. Because various countries, regions and families have unique styles of cooking and eating, no one tool can cover it all. Thus, the list…
Ali Hall and Julie Lavington set up Sosandar, a UK online retailer of women’s fashion, in 2016. Within a few years, annual sales had grown to £42mn.
But their latest growth initiative is not a refreshed digital marketing campaign or the recruitment of new social media influencers. It is shops: the two founders said in December they plan to open up to eight stores later this year in affluent towns.
The rationale is clear: despite a boom in internet shopping in what was already one of the world’s most developed online markets, most clothes are still sold in shops.

Four out of five Americans still describe themselves as meat eaters, and 98% of US households still purchase meat, according to a new report by the Meat Institute and FMI—The Food Industry Association.
The Power of Meat report, released Monday, noted that Gen Xers were the biggest meat eaters, accounting for 32% of sales, while Baby Boomers were the most frequent meat purchasers at 53 times per year. Meanwhile, Millennials spent the most on average per purchase at just under $17 per purchase.
Meat consumption is changing, though, with nearly three-quarters (73%) of US shoppers adjusting their purchasing habits to…

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL (10/24/2023) — Health professionals have long praised the benefits of insoluble fiber for bowel regularity and overall health. New research from the University of Minnesota suggests even more reasons we should prioritize fiber in our regular diets. In a new study published in Nutrients, researchers found that each plant source of insoluble fiber contains unique bioactives — compounds that have been linked to lower incidence of cardiovascular disease, cancer and Type 2 diabetes — offering potential health benefits beyond those of the fiber itself.
“People understand the need for fiber and how it relates to gut health —…

Grocery shopping is an anxious and demoralizing day for us.
My spouse is diabetic and has heart problems, which means we’re often left to choose between buying food and medication. Before heading to the cash register, I often evaluate what is in my shopping cart, weighing which of the more expensive items we can forgo or substitute for cheaper stuff to stretch our wallet until the next payday.
For example, I…
Walgreens’ top weight: Walgreens Boots Alliance’s health care strategy has been put to bed with flu-like symptoms. The retailer has spent the last few months closing VillageMD clinics in Indiana, Florida, and Illinois in an effort to cut $1 billion in capital expenses this year, and if I had to guess, more shutdowns are on the way. So who is the one with the most weight to lift in the coming months? That would be Mary Langowski, who replaced John Driscoll as president of US health care. Langowski worked at CVS, where he was the executive vice president and chief…
Judge rules in favor of Safeway workers who confronted shoplifters. A longtime Safeway employee in San Mateo, Calif., who was fired last year after intervening to prevent a shoplifting attempt, did not act inappropriately and is therefore eligible to collect unemployment benefits, a judge in the state’s Employment and Development Department has ruled. Antoinette Baez and another employee confronted a shoplifter who was attempting to leave the store with $500 worth of groceries after failing to pay at a self-checkout terminal, according to local reports. Baez, who had worked at the store for 22 years, was fired after the company…
